Opportunities for providing Feedback to Mentors, Instructors, and Supervisors

Students are able to provide feedback on their instructors from the University instructor evaluation system (called Blue). Emails come to students registered in those courses towards the end of any semester. The ratings are provided to the instructor and the Department Chair after the semester ends.

Students also have the opportunity to provide feedback on their research mentor(s). This is done via a Qualtrics survey distributed by another graduate student who serves as a GA to the Department Chair and it typically occurs in the summer months. The data is de-identified. Students are able to allow their mentors to see the feedback, but only if they explicitly indicate that with an answer to one of the survey questions. The information is otherwise only shared with the Department Chair, but the Chair can opt to provide aggregate results after data from more students could be gathered.

For clinical students, the Director of Clinical Training will send out a Qualtrics survey once a year so that students can rate their practicum supervisors (i.e., supervisors in our training clinic). This information goes to the Director of Clinical Training, who then compiles them until there are adequate numbers of reviews to share with the supervisor. The survey is confidential. For external/traineeship placements, the Clinic Director sends a Qualtrics survey out to students after they have completed their placement so that they can provide feedback about the supervisor of that placement. Again, the Clinic Director collects these and does not share the information with the supervisor until it can be aggregated and de-identified. In either case, should the data reviewed raise any 鈥渞ed flags鈥 however, the Director of Clinical Training and the Clinic Director will consult with other relevant departmental staff to determine if immediate action is needed.
