Animals on Campus

In accordance with University Policy 44.120, animals are generally not permitted inside 花季传媒 buildings or vehicles. The Policy provides for exceptions to this prohibition, which include, but are not limited to, service animals, service dogs in training, and emotional support animals. 

 

Young Dogs and Puppies Undergoing Socialization that May Later Become Service Animals

Another exception allowed under Policy 44.120 is for young dogs or puppies undergoing socialization that may later become service animals. The policy requires such canines to be registered in accordance with procedures outlined by the Office of Civil Rights Compliance and to be covered by a liability insurance policy provided by a nonprofit special agency. Please note that dogs registered under this exception are still not permitted to be in University housing facilities.

A registration application must be approved each academic year, and all required documentation must be submitted before the registration application is considered. Dogs may not be in campus buildings or vehicles under this exception to the policy until a confirmation of registration has been sent by Civil Rights Compliance.

  • Proof of a liability insurance policy provided by a nonprofit special agency
  • A photo of the young dog or puppy being registered
  • The dog's veterinary records, including vaccination records
  • The dog's registration from Athens County or the home county.
