HLC Federal Compliance

University Conflict of Interest and Commitment

University Compliance in the Office of Audit, Risk, and Compliance is leading a multi-unit partnership to develop a comprehensive Conflict of Interest (COI) and Conflict of Commitment program.

The COIC Initiative is co-led by Laura Myers, Director of University Compliance, and Kim Littlefield, Associate Vice President for Research Administration. The work is guided by a cross-campus committee including representatives from Finance, the College of Business, Legal Affairs, University Compliance, Research Compliance, the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, Human Resources, and the Office of Audit, Risk, and Compliance. This diverse membership ensures that policies and procedures reflect the real-world responsibilities of faculty, staff, and administrators across the institution.

OHIO Compliance Training

On August 19th, 2025, President Gonzalez approved a proposal to launch a consolidated annual compliance training campaign beginning August 2026. This initiative鈥攃o-developed by University Compliance, University Human Resources (UHR), OIT, and a work group of operational leaders from across the university鈥攁ligns with Policy 40.130 and brings nearly all federally, state, and university-mandated employee training into one yearly cycle.

This initiative is designed to create a robust, efficient, and sustainable university-level training program that:

  • Efficiently assigns mandatory training to all employees.
  • Provides automated reminders for employees, supervisors, and central compliance.
  • Offers a user-friendly interface for employees to access assignments.
  • Ensures relevant content that is regularly reviewed and updated.
  • Tracks training completions and generates reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Embeds required attestations (e.g., fraud, FERPA acknowledgments) where needed.

Sustains programs regardless of delivery platform (VECTOR, CITI, United Educators, Canvas, etc.) through strategic investment or reallocation of resources.
