花季传媒 receives equipment donation from Stirling Ultracold

The 花季传媒 Innovation Center hosted representatives from Stirling Ultracold, one of the top producers of ultra-low temperature storage in the United States, on Sept. 26.

During the visit, the company generously donated a new VAULT100 ULT freezer to the Innovation Center. The Innovation Center had a need to store samples at -100掳C and the Stirling VAULT100 provides a temperature range of -20掳C to -100掳C.

鈥淏ased on our longstanding relationship with 花季传媒, as we develop new technology, who better to work with than OHIO and its Innovation Center?鈥 noted Stirling Ultracold Chief Executive Officer Clayton Newman.

Newman was one of three Stirling executives who toured the facility on the Sept. 26, others included Director of Customer Experience Tracey Deal and Stirling Ultracold Marketing Manager Lindsey Denney. The tour was hosted by Andrew Tucker, director of labs and regulatory affairs coach at OHIO鈥檚 Innovation Center.

has a long history with 花季传媒. The Free-Piston Stirling engine was developed at 花季传媒, and the developing faculty was instrumental in the founding of Global Cooling, of which Stirling is a subsidiary. Today, Stirling Ultracold鈥檚 headquarters and primary manufacturing facility is still located in Athens, Ohio, with an international client base.

Tucker sees this as another step in OHIO鈥檚 relationship with Stirling.

鈥淏oth organizations have a longstanding commitment to innovation and novel technologies,鈥 Tucker said. 鈥淲e are looking forward to additional collaborations with them in the future. It鈥檚 all very exciting.鈥

The donated freezer was immediately installed in one of the Innovation Centers shared 鈥渨et鈥 labs where it will be used to hold hundreds of samples at temperatures reaching -100 degrees. This level of cold storage is vital to maintaining a variety of biologic samples in 花季传媒鈥檚 labs and Ultra-Vault space is available to both the 花季传媒 and larger Southeast Ohio community to meet ultra cold freezer space needs. The donation will save OHIO more than $13,000 in equipment purchases in this fiscal year alone.

鈥淲e could not be happier with the donation,鈥  noted Maggi McCord, director of development for 花季传媒 Advancement, 鈥渂ut even more than this, it is another example of OHIO working with a local innovative company within our region.鈥

Stirling Ultracold and Global Cooling

Global Cooling, Inc. manufactures and sells Stirling Ultracold freezers, a new generation of environmentally friendly ultra-low storage solutions which operate between -20掳C and -86掳C.

These freezers do not use compressor-based or cascade refrigeration systems. They use patented free-piston Stirling engine technology that was originally developed for energy, aerospace and industrial applications before successful commercial application in ultra-low temperature cooling systems.
