Happy Cybersecurity Awareness Month
October 2025 is the 22nd anniversary of Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
Beginning in 2004, the President of the United States and Congress declared the month of October as Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a month dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of cybersecurity. The evergreen theme of all Cybersecurity awareness months from 2023 forward is 鈥淪ecure Our World.鈥 This theme, in collaboration with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency鈥檚 (CISA) cybersecurity awareness program, focuses on daily habits that users can implement to reduce risks to online activities and when interacting with connected devices.
Over the course of the month of October, 花季传媒鈥檚 Information Security Office will explore and expand on this guidance with a series of articles focused on relevant information for our OHIO community members. In addition to these articles, we encourage our OHIO community members to join us for various activities throughout this week as follows.
Cybersecurity Article of the week
In this article, explore how bad actors can bypass Multifactor Authentication and what you can do to prevent this situation.
Virtual Game of the Week
Complete the scavenger hunt and be entered to win a prize from the Information Security Office.
Oct. 1 Cybersecurity Coffee Chat
Join a virtual session from 8:30鈥10 a.m. as we explore best practices in securing your University work. Topics will cover end user device security, security while traveling, and using University tools such as OneDrive to effectively collaborate while securing your data. .
Help OHIO beat Miami in the Third Annual CyberMania Competition
Help us prove that Bobcats are cyber smart by completing a short five-question survey about your confidence with cybersecurity concepts. The school with the most participants wins, and all participants will be entered into a drawing to win a prize from the Information Security Office.
