
Frontiers in Science to discuss ‘Cultivating Curiosity: Science in Everyday Life’ on Oct. 8

The ý Frontiers in Science Lecture Series will feature Dr. Frederic Bertley, president and CEO of COSI (Center of Science and Industry) and CEO of the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Baker University Center Ballroom.
A science educator, immunologist, and advocate for critical and innovative thinking, Bertley will discuss “Cultivating Curiosity: Science in Everyday Life” in his presentation at OHIO.
All students, faculty, staff and area residents are invited to attend the event and be a part of a conversation that makes science come alive and relevant to your everyday experiences.
With a focus on sparking curiosity and advancing science literacy, Bertley’s talk will highlight how individuals and communities can become active participants in scientific exploration and progress. From practical innovations to lifelong learning, discover how scientific thinking extends beyond the classroom and into our daily lives – where we live, learn, and lounge.
In the spirit of the Frontiers in Science Lecture Series, this talk will fuel curiosity and the building of a more connected, informed, and inspired community.
Bertley is a civic-minded leader, strategist, innovator, scientist, educator, and communicator. In his role at COSI, Bertley works towards elevating science literacy globally, helping reimagine the STEM workforce development pipeline for the nation and creating engaging, empathetic and innovative citizens.
At the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, Bertley is leading the national museum through a transformational phase to continue to honor and celebrate the lives of Veterans. He is developing a strategic plan, expanding programmatic potential, operational efficiencies and setting the National Veterans Memorial and Museum to have a broader impact celebrating service in the regional and national landscape.
