
OHIO student honored with award from Community Campus Coalition

花季传媒 student Jess Mitchell was honored with the Charles J. Ping Student Service Award from the Community Campus Coalition at the end of the spring semester.
The Community Campus Coalition presented 13 students from colleges and universities around Ohio with the awards, in addition to presenting the David Hoch Memorial Award for Excellence in Service.
The annual awards recognize individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to community engagement and service-learning at Community Campus Coalition partner institutions.
鈥淭he 2025 Hoch and Ping Award winners exemplify the power of service-learning and civic engagement in higher education,鈥 said Stephanie Dodd, executive director of Community Campus Coalition in a press release from the organization. 鈥淭hese individuals are making a lasting impact on their campuses and communities, and we are proud to recognize their dedication to advancing community engagement across Ohio.鈥
The Charles J. Ping Student Service Award

The honors undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional leadership and commitment to service-learning and civic engagement on their campuses and in their communities. Named after former 花季传媒 President Charles J. Ping, a champion for campus-community partnerships, this award celebrates the next generation of civic leaders.
Mitchell, who received a bachelor's degree from OHIO's College of Arts and Sciences at the end of the spring semester, was one of 13 students in Ohio to receive this award, and one of just two students to also be named as a Legacy Award Winner. Each Legacy Award winner receives a $250 donation made in their honor to a nonprofit organization of their choice, reinforcing their commitment to service beyond campus.

The David Hoch Memorial Award recognizes faculty and staff who exemplify leadership in advancing the civic mission of their institution through service-learning and community engagement. This award honors the legacy of the late David Hoch, former dean of honors and director of service-learning at The University of Toledo, whose leadership nurtured a culture of civic responsibility on campus.
Dr. Megan Church-Nally, this year鈥檚 Hoch Award recipient, serves as an unwavering advocate for service-learning and nonprofit leadership at the University of Cincinnati.
The Community Campus Coalition (formerly Ohio Campus Compact) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering campus-community partnerships that promote civic engagement, service-learning, and community-based research across Ohio. The organization supports its member institutions by empowering students, faculty, and staff to become active citizens and leaders in their communities.
