Our Mission
1. Address concerns of students who are parents and/or dependent caregivers who provide most of the care for someone who relies on them. These may include but are not limited to:
a. Providing a supplemental information to OU-HCOM specific to parental concerns and needs, including but not limited to:
o Protocol for documentation and initiation of personal days for when dependents are ill or have unexpected days off school/daycare/etc.
o Accessing benefits for self and dependents, such as health insurance; additional financial aid for student parents with children in daycare; Lifetime Fitness family memberships; etc.
b. Help parents learn work/life balance in medical school by giving tips and advice, as well as creating a positive and welcoming environment.
2. Provide support and community for student parents/caregivers and their family members
3. Collaborate and support other clubs in our endeavors toward Osteopathic training by addressing the mind, body, and spirit of our classmates who have various experiences and life challenges.
4. Address the needs of local community families with philanthropic, safety education, and educational endeavors.
5. Aid in facilitation of education in parenting, pediatric concerns, family dynamics and relationships as a medical professional by hosting speakers; hosting workshops; and other ideas as the club brings them forward.
6. Help educate peers on family responsibilities and coping mechanisms for if/when they become parents or caregivers during medical school, residency, and beyond.

Services Provided
We will provide philanthropic opportunities by hosting a coat drive as well as a toy drive. We will also be collaborating with other clubs to create learning opportunities for students who wish to become parents at any point, but also for families in the community. We plan to host learning opportunities about the importance of reading to children when they are young within the community. We will also host child and women safety learning opportunities.
