Security Measures
Wristbands
All residential students will be required to wear a wristband to enter the halls for Halloween weekend. If you elect not to wear a wristband, you will be required to show your OHIO ID each time you enter your hall and would not be permitted to visit any other residence halls even when escorted by a resident of that building.
All registered guests must wear their provided wristband. To obtain a wristband, the registered guest will need to show a valid photo ID that has a matching name to the registration on file. The approved guest must be accompanied by the residential student when entering, exiting, and when in the hall.
Wristbands will be distributed at most residence hall staff offices during the following times:
- Thursday, October 23 from 8:30 to 10 p.m. (resident wristbands only)
- Friday, October 24 from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
- Saturday, October 25 from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
Residents of the Back South Complex (Hoover, Ewing, Wray, Dougan, and True) can pick theirs up on the ground floors of their buildings during the following times:
- Friday, October 24 from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
- Saturday, October 25 from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
Residents of River Park and River Gate can pick theirs up in the elevator lobby of Building 36 during the following times:
- Friday, October 24 from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
- Saturday, October 25 from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
Exterior Doors and Access
Beginning Friday, October 24 at 5 p.m. all exterior doors to the residences halls, outside the main entrance, will be inaccessible. Swipe access to all exterior doors will be returned on Sunday, October 26 at 12 p.m. (noon).

Halloween Guest Policy
Residents may register one guest for Halloween weekend using the .
Guest Fees
There is a $50 guest fee that will be billed to the student account of the resident who has a non-OHIO guest that checks in for Halloween weekend. Any resident with an unapproved guest will be charged a non-registered guest charge ($100 for each non-OHIO student or $50 for each OHIO student) and may be subject to a Community Standards referral. All guests must remain with their host at all times.
Halloween charges will be applied to your student account the week proceeding Halloween weekend.
Off-Campus and Regional OHIO Students as Guests
OHIO students who live off campus or attend a regional campus can be registered as a guest. If they are registered during the registration window, the residential host will not be charged a Halloween guest fee. Off-campus or regional OHIO students count as the host鈥檚 one guest and must still be registered in advance. The host鈥檚 roommate has the right to deny their registration. If an off-campus or regional student is found in the residence halls without registration, the host will be charged a $50 unregistered guest fee. All guests must remain with their host at all times while in the residence halls.
Residential Students
Current OHIO residential students do not need to register as a guest, but they cannot enter another residence hall unless a resident of that hall accompanies them at all times.
Guest Registration Timeline
Guest registration starts Monday, October 6 at 9 a.m. and ends Tuesday, October 14 at 11:59 p.m.
Your guest must be registered in advance and the guest registration form must be fully completed NO LATER THAN 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14. Guest approval will be communicated on October 17 to all students who are approved to have a guest for Halloween weekend. Students can review their submitted registration form on their Roompact at any time.
Roommate Review
This process is specific to students who share a room. Students in adjoining suite rooms or other apartment bedrooms do not have the option to refuse guest registration.
Once a guest registration is on file, all roommates of that room will have a chance to review. If a roommate decides to deny a guest, they must complete the form linked in the guest registration notification email. This can be done any time between Monday, October 6 at 9 a.m. when the guest registration form opens, until Thursday, October 16 at 11:59 p.m. Housing will notify the host via email if a roommate declines a guest registration.
Any roommate who chooses to deny a guest registration request must do so by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, October 16 for it to be honored.
Housing and Residence Life encourages all residents to communicate with each other Halloween guest plans prior to completing the form.
Parking Information
There will be NO guest parking on campus. Some pay to park spaces may be available at the Athens Fair Grounds.
