Computer Science Minor

The Minor in Computer Science provides a foundation in computing that may benefit students in various disciplines.

Computers and computer software are ubiquitous. They exist in cars, planes, trains, smart phones, televisions, cable boxes, ATMs, etc. Therefore, foundational knowledge of computing can lead to career opportunities in a variety of disciplines, such as biology, physics, engineering, accounting, business, and more.

Students who have completed the minor in computer science have gone on to work in a variety of industries that use significant computing resources, e.g., the automotive, telecommunications, and financial industries.

  • Admission to the Minor

    Students majoring in engineering, biology, physics, or business may find a Computer Science minor advantageous to their career plans. Students in the minor will learn how to use C++ and how to analyze data structure including algorithms.

    To earn a minor in Computer Science, students complete 6 courses, including:

    • CS 2401 - Introduction to Computer Science II
    • CS 3000 - Introduction to Discrete Structures
    • CS 3610 - Data Structures
    • EE 1024 - Introduction to Computer Engineering
